En la Laguna de Sonso encontramos el Centro de Educación Ambiental Buitre de Ciénaga, el cual está próximo a la carretera que conduce de Buga a Loboguerrero; fácil acceso, tanto por la ubicación como por el estado de la vía, presenta buen potencial educativo y recreativo, así como seguridad para los visitantes. Se encuentra dentro de un área natural protegida, lo cual facilita su labor.
La reserva cuenta con un centro de educación ambiental denominado BUITRE DE CIENAGA, que ofrece al visitante un salón de auditorio y batería sanitaria.
Es el principal humedal en la planicie aluvial del río Cauca y en la jurisdicción de la CVC. En él se pueden encontrar muchas especies de aves incluyendo residentes y migratorias de Norte América y de otras regiones. La Laguna además de constituirse como un vaso regulador de las crecientes del río Cauca, es el último reducto del ecosistema lagunar autóctono de extensión considerable, que persiste en el Valle del Cauca, de ella también derivan su sustento diferentes familias ubicadas en El Provenir y Media Canoa. Además de los valores naturales que se convierten en gran potencial recreativo, cultural, educativo y científico.
Terrestre: Alrededor de la laguna, se puede parar a observar aves de la zona pantanosa y de playas.
Acuático: En botes para observación de aves de la zona lagunar.
Sitios de interés: La Torre de observación en la península de Mata zarza, el bosque de las chatas en la parte oriental de la laguna y la panorámica sobre el río Cauca por el sector occidental, pesca con anzuelo y fotografía ambiental.

Ten en cuenta que para ingresar debes tener la confirmación de aceptación de parte nuestra. Este procedimiento está establecido para no superar la capacidad de carga del Centro, garantizar la calidad de la experiencia y evitar el deterioro del patrimonio natural que se conserva en el lugar.
¿CUÁL ES EL HORARIO DEL CENTRO?
El Centro está abierto para visitantes desde las 9:00 a.m. hasta las 5:00 p.m.
Para grupos interesados en actividades especiales como el avistamiento de aves, el ingreso al centro puede hacerse desde las 6:00 a.m. Los servicios de guía de avistamiento son ofrecidos por comunidades locales y tienen un costo asociado al tamaño del grupo y el tiempo dedicado a la experiencia.

En la vía Buga-Mediacanoa, 250 metros antes de cruzar el Río Cauca se vira a la izquierda por carretera destapada en el sitio denominado Puerto Bertín, a 1,5 km se encuentra el Centro Ambiental Buitre de Ciénaga
